Sanctuary Youth Centre

This week we pray for our local missions partner Sanctuary Youth Centre.  Based in the basement of Church of Our Lord in downtown Victoria they serve as a safe place for some of the most vulnerable people in our city - street entrenched and at-risk youth between the ages of 14 and 22.

Here are some specific prayer and praise items from them:

• We are thankful for the increase in attendance with almost double the average number of monthly visits by youth compared to last year.  Let’s remember to pray for the 200 youth who drop in every month. 
• A greater number of youth are struggling with substance abuse issues. Please pray for spiritual breakthrough as it relates to youth with addictions. Please pray for Sanctuary Youth to be able to effectively communicate Christ in and through their Drop in Programs.
• We also pray for them to be able to be effective as they mentor youth transitioning out  of Government  Care (at age 18 or 19).  Research shows this is a critical time that often determines a youth’s future direction.
• Please pray for and publicize the Ride For Refuge fund-raiser which Sanctuary Youth will host again in October.  Covid restrictions are impacting their ability to plan for the event and may limit capacity.
