Today our Missions Prayer is for our English Language Learners Ministry, in which volunteers from our church meet with people who are new to our country and assist them in learning English and learning about Jesus. Here are some items of praise and some prayer requests from them.
Updates:
- We continue to have new students join our Wednesday morning classes. We have between 25 and 30 students each week.
- We were thrilled and blessed that a number of students attended our Good Friday and Easter Sunday services.
Praise:
- For bringing new students to class.
- For the opportunity to share the Gospel as we focused on Jesus’ death and resurrection.
- For the eagerness of the students to learn English and the opportunities we teachers have to share God's story in so many of the class times.
- For a group of volunteers that has stepped up to help this year, and for the teacher’s flexibility to teach different levels as needed.
Prayer Requests:
- For energy, enthusiasm, and creativity for teachers over the next couple of months, before we break for summer.
- For students and their family members who are seeking and the Holy Spirit to speak powerfully into their lives to reveal the love and grace of Jesus.
- We have matched 2 students with ELL buddies from our congregation. Pray that others will be spurred on to share their faith journey with an ELL student or their family member. Specifically, we are looking for a couple of high school teens who would be willing to be an ELL buddy for teens whose parents attend our classes.
- For the students who have challenges with their day-to-day life (health, mental health, family issues).
- For the Lord’s leading to restart an in-person evening class in September and potentially another group for students to learn more about faith in Jesus.
