Today our Mission's Prayer is for our English Language Learners Ministry, in which volunteers from our church meet with people who are new to our country and assist them in learning English and in learning about Jesus. Here are some items of praise and some prayer requests from them.
Praise, praise, praise! We thank God for:
- Bringing students to us – wow!
- 2 new teachers who have joined us this past month
- Teachers who give their time to serve
- Courageous students who are persevering with learning a new language
- The high level of participation, rich discussions, and sharing of our faith journey together in our Bible studies
Prayer Needs:
For the students:
- For the students who are attending Lambrick services – that their faith be deepened and they find community in Lambrick.
- That students see the love of Jesus and that we continue to have opportunities to share the message of Christ with them.
- For patience and persistence as they learn English; and that they feel safe and comfortable to practice speaking in class.
- For the Spirit to guide participants into deeper faith through studying Scripture.
- For the students to live out their faith in the challenges of everyday life and for the Spirit to move in family members to follow Jesus.
For the teachers, please pray:
- Teachers continue to develop deeper, significant relationships with the students.
- For wisdom & creativity to develop lessons that meet the diverse needs of students, and insight to know how to help each individual student.
In general, please pray
- For another potential ‘class’ for English language learners who are attending Lambrick services to review the sermon - for God’s leading in this
- For God to raise up ‘ELL buddies’ – for others in our church family to be a friend - meeting with a student or two outside of class. If you are interested in doing this, please contact Brenda (brenda@lambrick.com).
