After getting married in August 1990, we moved into a basement suite in Gordon Head as we finished our studies in electronics at UVic and Camosun. We began attending Lambrick that September, which became our church home for the next ten years (and still is our Canadian home church).
Growing up, we both felt called to serve the Lord in some capacity. We first learned about Radio Station HCJB – The Voice of the Andes – when we were finishing secondary school in Canada back in the 80’s! From there, God led us to our vocations, to each other, to jobs and growing a family in the 90’s, and eventually to learn Spanish and work with the radio ministry in Ecuador from 2000-2012.
Following the close of the international shortwave ministry from Ecuador, we learned of the need for “techies with a creative flair” at the Reach Beyond (formerly HCJB) studios in Australia. God opened the doors to make the move to Melbourne at the end of 2012. Brent provides technical support to our office, studio and broadcast facilities while Shelley produces and schedules audio programming from numerous ministry partners, sharing the life changing message of hope in Jesus in around 25 different languages over shortwave radio to Asia. Recently, Shelley has also assumed the part-time role of processing and receipting donations in Australia – a critical part of funding the broadcast ministry.
We have three young adult sons. The eldest lives in Canada while the two youngest live with us in Australia. Outside of the radio ministry, we are involved in A/V and music ministry at church.
Brent and Shelley are sent by SonSet solutions Canada, and are serving with Reach Beyond in Australia. Find out more about each of these organisations below.
