Matthew 20:28 says: The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve. This was a pivotal verse for me in my first years of becoming a Christian in my early 30’s. What would that look like for me? Thoughts of Stanley Livingstone going to Africa to serve in a remote village had no appeal to me. When I came to Lambrick 34 years ago, I saw a need for leaders for a kids program called Awana and served there for a few years and got to experience the joy of serving and blessings others. In the years following I got to serve as a deacon, an elder, a sound technician and currently serve doing pastoral visitation, teaching our Apex middle school program and helping with facility maintenance around the church. There is certainly no shortage of ways to serve!
Let’s pray together today that each of us look for ways to use our unique gifts and talents and follow our Savior’s example of serving, not being served!
