Our missional focus this week is ELL.

Our ELL started over 15 years ago with a vision to share the love of Jesus to those whose first language is not English. Students are from all over the world - some are visiting scholars and faculty, some are new residents, and some have lived here for some time but seeking to improve their English Language skills.

We are excited to see how God has blessed this ministry. We have seen several of our ELL students continue to seek God here and back in their home country.

Like many other ministries at Lambrick we have had to reinvent ourselves in light of the COVID pandemic. Since March, ELL has gone virtual via Zoom classes! Five to six students have been attending a Thursday Bible Study and new learners are joining each week. This Fall we have been working through the book of Mark.

This coming Monday (October 19th ), we will be launching a second Zoom class on Monday evenings. The
Monday night class will provide opportunity for intermediate students to improve their oral and written
English through discussions of current news events, Canadian culture and Bible stories.

We have a vision to broaden the ELL ministry over Zoom and through smaller in-person groups over this
next season. We would love to get more people involved in connecting with students one to one
virtually or face to face.

Please pray:

  • That God will lead new learners to both Monday and Thursday classes
  • That students will experience the love of God and get to know Jesus
  • For wisdom and discernment for leaders in planning and teaching classes and sharing the love
    of Jesus with students
  • For others within our church family with a desire to show love and hospitality to foreign visitors
    to join the ELL Ministry
