This Sunday, September 6, after the church service, we’ll be having our last summer picnic potluck of the season!

These picnic potlucks are a great opportunity to spend some time together and a chance to connect with people you already know, meet someone new, and enjoy a meal together as a church community.

A quick note as you prepare for this Sunday:
With this being the first week of September, many university students are returning to Victoria and back to our church community after being away for the summer. We’re looking forward to welcoming many of them back, and we anticipate that attendance will be higher than what we’ve typically seen over the summer.

With that in mind, if you’re able to bring food to share, please consider bringing a little extra this Sunday so there is plenty to go around!

No need to make anything fancy. Think simple, easy-to-eat picnic foods that can be shared with others.

Need some inspiration? Here are a few easy ideas:

• Sandwiches or wraps, cut into smaller pieces

• Fresh fruit or fruit skewers

• Cheese and crackers

• Veggies and dip

• Chips, pretzels, or pita chips

• Pizza or pizza bites

• Muffins or other baked pastries

• Samosas, dumplings, or spanakopitas

• Chicken strips

• Potato wedges

We’re looking forward to gathering together this Sunday and welcoming back many students and others in our community as we head into a new season together.

Please make sure all food is peanut-free.

Hey parents, as we look toward the new school year, our programs on Sundays will look a bit different and we recognize you might have some questions!

• What grade is my kid considered to be this week?  Kids move up on Sept 13th!  Apex (for Grades 6-8) also starts Sept 13th!
• Elementary Kids: Over the school year, they start in the cafe and then will head downstairs for their small groups.  Kenzie will be near the bottom of the stairs to help you find the right classroom for pickup.
• Apex: Apex restarts Sept 13th!  Middle schoolers will be dismissed slightly later than the younger kids, so should stay with their parents until they are dismissed right before the sermon.

We would also like to remind parents that even with all the wiggles and excitement of a new school year, unless they have been dismissed to their program, we will need you to please keep an eye on your kids and teens during the service.  Especially while we have other programs going on, or are setting up fun things for your kids for later in their program.

Once a month, our youth leaders gather for a planning night to connect, prepare, and pray for the month ahead. We’d love to have a few people from our church community help care for them in a practical way by providing a simple dinner for one of these evenings!

There’s no need for anything fancy; just a simple meal that our leaders can enjoy together while they plan.

Whether you love to cook or simply love finding practical ways to serve, this is a meaningful way to support the people who pour into our youth each week!

As our church continues to grow, so does Kids Church! This year, Kenzie is building a Support Team to help make Kids Church a welcoming and supportive space for every child.

What does the role look like? You’ll join one of our kids’ small groups and walk alongside children who may need a little extra attention. Most importantly, you’ll help them feel included, valued, and seen while bringing a calm and encouraging presence to the room.

We’re looking for people who:

• Are patient and caring

• Enjoy spending time with kids, especially our more energetic ones!

• Can offer a calm, supportive presence

• Want to help every child feel like they belong

Time commitment:
2 Sundays on, followed by 2 Sundays off. This gives you time to build a relationship with the kids you’re supporting while still regularly participating in the adult portion of the service.

Where we currently need support:

• 1-on-1 Support: 7 people

• Pre-K: 1 person

• Grade 4/5 Helpers: 2 people

This week, our missional prayer focus is for Living Edge Market, which is a free weekly grocery program run every Wednesday evening in the church's café.  Living Edge is one of our local missional partnerships, where Living Edge rescues fresh, healthy surplus food from grocer, like produce, meat, dairy, and bread, and the LPC community provides the space and volunteers to hand it out. It is completely free, open to everyone, and there are no requirememts in id or registration to attend, making it a very welcoming and dignified place for anyone to come recieve groceries.
